The 1st International Conference on China Development Theory

We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 1st International Conference on China Development Theory to be held on October 19-20, 2019 in School of Economics, Renmin University of China.

China is the largest developing country in the world. Over the past 40 years since its reform and opening up, China has seen a rapid economic development and great success. It has created a Chinese miracle and embarked on a development path with Chinese characteristics. The practices and great achievements in China’s rapid economic development provide the most vivid materials and rich nutrients for theories in development economics. Developing countries are expecting to understand and learn from China’s successful practices to better tackle major challenges in their own development. For China, an in-depth analysis of the theoretical logic of its development from economics perspective can help China establish its own development theory and promote sustainable growth.

In this context, the convening of the annual International Conference on China Development Theory is just in time and has great significance. The first International Conference on China Development Theory is hosted by the School of Economics at Renmin University of China from October 19 (Saturday) to 20 (Sunday), 2019, and aims to bring together top domestic and international scholars studying China’s development theories and experience. The conference will invite top international economists to give keynote speeches (Professor Pranab Bardhan, a world-renowned development economist, has confirmed participation). It will also invite experts to join round-table discussions on major development issues in China, and invite editors-in-chief of top academic journals in the area of development economics (editors-in-chief of the Journal of Development Economics, China Economic Review, Economic Research Journal have confirmed participation).

The Organizing Committee of the International Conference on China Development Theory welcomes economists at home and abroad to report their research papers related to China’s development at the conference (both Chinese and English papers are acceptable).
